Places to Stay on Vieques

Everything is very casual here, and while Vieques has typically been a bit on the rustic side, things have been changing and the traveller can now find very comfortable lodging at reasonable rates.

Most of the accommodation options are located in the central part of the island, which is more developed. There are many small inns scattered throughout the island. Esperanza, an old fishing village which has become a popular area for food, drink, some art galleries, shops, and a small historical museum, and of course, nightlife. There are several small inns located along the Malecon, a long promenade along the water's edge, perfect for a sunset stroll before dinner.

Since the end of military exercises and the return of the island to the government of Puerto Rico in 2003, an ongoing Real Estate boom has resulted in numerous newly upgraded properties coming onto the vacation rental market.

Standbys like the Inn on the Blue Horizon have long been the mainstays of places to stay while visiting Vieques.
